Welcome Pocahontas!

Pocahontas has been around for a while but she is still rocking it as one of our top sellers. She is sweet and simple and oh so fun to dress up! Just add a little handmade arm band (a wonderful project for you and your little one!), a turquoise necklace, and some imagination, and you’re all set. I just love how strong Pocahontas is, the compassion she shows to those around her, and how she stands up for what she believes in. What a great role model to look up to!

The simplicity of this dress can be found in the “pull over” peasant dress design. The one shoulder, ruffled, neckline resembles Pocahontas’s dress while still giving plenty of coverage. If your little one has slight textile issues, she will LOVE the super soft 100% cottons we’ve specially chosen for this dress. While all of our cottons are designer high quality, we really lucked out when we came across these fabrics! All fabrics are pre-washed in gentle detergents (safe for your little ones) so your dress is ready to wear when it arrives!

Pocahontas comes in several sizes from 6/12 months all the way to 9/10. The neckline has a ¼” durable and stretchy braided elastic neckline. The extra full skirt has a slightly rounded hemline that is finished off with a light ruffle and the dark brown sash allows you to adjust for a more fitted look. Order it on the longer side and your cherished handmade dress can be enjoyed for years to come!

All our seams are professionally serged. That means they have been finished off and won't fray in the wash. Our very first models are still wearing their goodies from YEARS ago and haven't had any issues with wear and tear.... and they are some rambunctious little kiddos! We highly suggest that you wash your handmade dress in a delicate wash, on cold, and line dry or tumble dry on low. However, if you are in a rush, go ahead and toss it into your regular load of laundry with the rest of your colors and be confident knowing that your dress has been made with every attention to detail in its construction!

Need something to accessorize your dress with? We've got that covered! Stop on over at Ella Bella Boutique and top of your little one's look with her very own turquoise chunky beaded necklace with adorable clay Pocahontas center!

We can't complete our Pocahontas post without introducing you to our super awesome and super sweet photographer, Melissa, from Lissarie Photography! Melissa is amazingly talented and has become such a wonderful friend over the past year! When I originally came to her with the idea for the photoshoot, I had no vision in mind at all. But, Melissa took charge and put it all together… from the handmade teepee and armband to the adorable little raccoon prop, and you can’t forget the sweet simplistic styling on her gorgeous model (who just so happens to be her daughter… can you say AWESOME GENES!? This beautiful little tween is a natural and definitely takes after her momma with that gorgeous face of hers.) I’m not quite sure how I ended up on Melissa’s photography page many months ago, but I am beyond elated that I did! If you’re in the So Cal area and are looking for some stunning photos from someone you are sure to have a fun time with, Melissa is your gal!

Our Pocahontas inspired dress is made by me, Cassandra, using a pattern by Create Kids Couture. *slight modifications made

Welcome Ariel

Ariel is one of the first dresses that was added to the shop. She is fun and twirly and great for summer, but pair her up with a little shirt underneath and some leggings and she can be worn all year round! The Little Mermaid has always been one of my absolute favorite movies. The songs are catchy. The characters are hilarious. It has everything you need... and so does this dress!

The dress is just as comfy as it is cute! Details include sweet skinny reverse knot straps, elastic back, and detailed bodice with ruffle. Gorgeous minty seafoamy Kona Cotton* goodness brings the character to life and is soft against your little ones skin. All fabrics are pre-washed in gentle detergents (safe for your little ones) so your dress is ready to wear when it arrives! *Kona Cotton is a durable and high quality 100% cotton fabric by Robert Kaufman.

Ariel comes in several split sizes from 18m/2t all the way to 7/8. With an elastic back and adjustable skinny straps, this dress is meant to last through several growth spurts. Order it on the longer side and your cherished handmade dress can be enjoyed by your little mermaid for years to come..... even as a top when she outgrows the length!

However, if you are in a rush, go ahead and toss it into your regular load of laundry with the rest of your colors and be confident knowing that your dress has been made with every attention to detail in it's construction!

If you're looking to dress up your little American Doll too, then Camelot's Treasure's is where you need to head next! You can find her ARIEL dress there, as well as Belle and many other adorable goodies for your dolly.

Need something to accessorize your dress with? We've got that covered too! Head on over to Style Me Jaime and grab yourself a GORGEOUS floral halo. It is sure to make your sweetheart feel like a princess and all halos are handmade by the momma of our darling little Ariel model! After you grab your halo, stop on over at Ella Bella Boutique and top of your little one's look with her very own Ariel chunky beaded necklace with adorable clay Ariel center!

We can't complete our Ariel post without introducing you to our TREMENDOUSLY talented photographer, Carolina, from C. Gonzales Photography! Carolina is such a pleasure to work with! She is overflowing with talent and knew just how to capture the look we were after. She always checked in to update me on the photoshoot, editing, etc...  and how things were going. Communication is definitely NOT an issue when working with this photographer! I am beyond pleased to have worked with Carolina and am excited to announce that we will be working together again, in the near future, to bring you Ariel's casual blue dress, her pink gown AND a fun Flounder inspired dress too!

Ariel's mermaid inspired dress is made by myself, using patterns by Create Kids Couture and Molly Blossom Designs. *modifications have been made*

Hello hello hello again

Well hello there everyone. It's me, Cassandra. It's been almost an entire year since I've last posted here on the blog. 0_0 Insane right? I came back today and saw that ALL of the photos from the previous blog posts had errors on them. After some research, I found out this had something to do with Picasa (where Blogger saves blog photos). The best way to fix this, without pulling all of my hair out, was to just delete all of the previous posts. So, we're starting over!

To get started, I thought I would share all of our current princess and character dresses! We have so many wonderful new dresses in the shop and even more to come! For now, I'll stick with the ones that have been modeled and share each of them in their own post! Each post will highlight all the special details of the dress, shout outs to the pattern designers, and information on the amazing photographers we have worked with! (have you noticed that I love exclamation points yet!)

For those who are new to the shop, WELCOME! We offer princess and character inspired dresses for your little darling kiddos. The shop was founded in 2011 (even though Etsy says 2009). The idea of working on character inspired dresses started towards the end of 2012 and became our MAIN focus mid-2013. Custom orders are always welcome too!

Here on the blog, you will find detailed information on our newest dresses, from start to finish. I'll share my favorite pattern designers, photographers, models, crafts, and more too! There might even be a little sprinkling of posts about my little family and, of course, our Princess Puppy, Harley (she's really 10yrs old, but don't tell her that!) I hope you follow the blog and stay in touch with all that we have to offer.. and if you REALLY want to stay in the loop (and receive some awesome discounts) then sign up for our NEWSLETTER! Thanks for stopping by!
